Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Pile Boss is developed and published by Tallie Tales LLC, a limited liability company organized in the United States ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the Pile Boss application — on Android, and on iPhone and iPad — handles information. Contact: piledrivingapp@tallietales.com.

2. Information we collect

None. We do not collect, receive, transmit, or store any personal information from users of Pile Boss. Specifically, Pile Boss does not collect:

• Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account credentials
• Location or GPS data
• Contacts, photos, calendars, or other device content
• Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
• Usage analytics, behavioral data, or crash telemetry

Pile Boss has no user accounts and no sign-in.

3. Information you create in the app

Blow counts, pile and project details, notes, and any other content you enter are stored locally on your device using the operating system's standard app storage. This data is not transmitted to Tallie Tales LLC or to any third party. We have no ability to access, view, or recover it.

You control this data. Exporting or sharing a log — by email, Drive, Files, AirDrop, or any other destination you choose from your device's share sheet — sends it wherever you direct it, and that recipient's own privacy practices then apply.

Deleting Pile Boss from your device deletes the data stored inside it.

3a. The microphone

Pile Boss asks for microphone access so it can hear the pile hammer: it detects each impact to count blows and uses the sound of the hammer to estimate the ram stroke. The audio is analysed on your device as it arrives. It is never recorded, saved to the device, or transmitted anywhere — no sound file exists at any point, and nothing but the resulting blow counts and stroke figures is kept. You can decline microphone access and record blows by tapping instead; you can change the permission at any time — on Android under Settings › Apps › Pile Boss › Permissions › Microphone, and on iPhone under Settings › Pile Boss › Microphone.

One exception, stated plainly because it is the kind of thing a policy should not bury: a separate developer build given to a handful of field testers can record raw audio to the device, so that a mis-count at a rig can be diagnosed. That build is never published on Google Play or the App Store, is not the app described by this policy, and is only ever installed by someone who was handed it directly and told what it does.

3b. Purchases and payment

Pile Boss is a paid app, and it offers an optional Pro subscription for unlimited exports. We do not process, receive, or store any payment information. Both are sold and billed entirely by Google Play on Android, or by the App Store on iPhone and iPad. Those companies collect whatever they need to take payment and handle renewals, refunds and cancellation under their own privacy policies — Google's and Apple's. We never see your name, card number or billing address.

To know what you have bought, the Android app includes Google's Play Billing library, which contacts Google's servers. That is the only networking in the app, it carries nothing of yours, and it never sends any part of your drive log anywhere. When it cannot reach Google — as happens on a site with no bars — the app keeps working on its last answer for 30 days rather than locking you out.

The count of how many piles you have exported is kept on your own device, like everything else, and is not reported to us.

4. Device backups

If your device is configured to back up — to iCloud, to a computer, or to Google's Android backup — Pile Boss's local data may be included in those backups. Those backups are made by Apple's or Google's software under your control and are governed by Apple's or Google's privacy policy, not this one.

5. Third parties

Pile Boss contains no third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting kits. The one third-party component in the app is Google's Play Billing library on Android, described in section 3b, which exists solely to ask Google whether a subscription is active. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share personal information, because we do not have any. We do not track users across apps or websites. If we ever add a third-party component that could receive user data, we will only use one that gives that data the same or equal protection as this policy, and we will update this policy before it ships.

Google and Apple provide aggregate, anonymized store statistics to us as the developer — for example, total downloads. That information comes from them, is not tied to identifiable individuals, and is governed by their own policies.

6. Children's privacy

Pile Boss is a professional field tool intended for construction and deep foundation work. It is not directed to children, and because the app collects no personal information at all, we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 or from anyone else.

7. If you contact us

When you email piledrivingapp@tallietales.com or piledrivingapp@gmail.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to answer you and to fix the problem you reported. We do not add support correspondents to a marketing list or share their messages with third parties. We keep the correspondence only as long as it is useful for supporting you, and we delete it on request: email the same address and ask, and we will delete it and confirm when it is done.

8. Your rights

Privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) give you rights to access, correct, delete, and port personal data a company holds about you, and to object to its sale. Tallie Tales LLC holds no personal data from Pile Boss users, so there is nothing for us to produce, correct, or delete. Data you created in the app is already in your sole possession and you can delete it yourself at any time by removing the app or clearing its contents. If you contacted us by email and want that correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it. The only permission Pile Boss relies on is microphone access; you can withdraw it at any time as described in section 3a.

9. Data security

Because Pile Boss stores your drive logs only on your device and transmits none of them, your information is protected by your device's own security — your passcode or PIN, your fingerprint or face unlock, and the operating system's encryption. Keeping your device locked and updated is the most effective protection for your logs.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how Pile Boss handles information, we will post an updated policy at this address and revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be described in the app's release notes on Google Play and the App Store.
